Reserve your Via Ferrata gear online before your climb to ensure availability and streamline pickup. When you arrive, our team will get you properly fitted and make sure you have the equipment you need before heading to the route.
The Ouray Via Ferrata is a self-guided public route for climbers who are comfortable with heights, exposure, and managing their own safety systems. Previous climbing experience is not required, but participants should understand proper Via Ferrata equipment use before entering the route. If you're unsure whether self-guided climbing is right for your group, we strongly recommend booking a guided experience.
Via Ferrata rentals are available to adults 18 and older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. The Ouray Via Ferrata requires self-guided participants to weigh between 90–265 lbs (40–120 kg) and have a standing reach of at least 62 inches. Participants outside these requirements must climb with a professional guide.

Ice climbing rentals open at 7:00 AM sharp, giving you time to get fitted, grab your gear, and head to the Ouray Ice Park early. Arriving early means more time on the ice and more time to make the most of your climbing day.
Our ice climbing rentals are intended for climbers who are confident and capable using technical climbing equipment independently. Renters should understand how to properly use ice tools, crampons, harnesses, and belay systems, and be able to manage their own safety in a winter mountain environment. If you're new to ice climbing, we strongly recommend booking a guided experience.
Renters must be at least 18 years old, or accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Minors using rental equipment in the Ouray Ice Park must remain under direct adult supervision.
Ice climbing rental inventory is limited and prioritized for Basecamp guided trips. Rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend calling ahead to check availability before your climbing day.
